A few general suggestions

First of all, I'd like to suggest a "preview" option, when posting on the boards.
If you wrote what ever you want to write, there should be a preview button, (almost like when you're posting on Live Journal),so that you could check whether you are happy with your spelling, html (if any), etc.

Two more suggestions, especially for the statistics, would be
The longest a person has been logged in, (if it's possible to check on this of course)

The user with the most log-ins per day.

it all sounds good. like the sound of the preview option

Not to sound ungrateful that you are trying to come up with ways to improve the site, but what good would that do? I mean, you can, for the most part, preview your post by simply reading over it before you click the post reply button.

What you say is true, kc8pnl.
speaking for myself though, and before using html in my board posts, I posted to a topic in the past, only to realise after I have posted to that topic, that amongst others, my line brakes were a bit screwed.

Ahafan,

Totally in agrement with you regarding the "preview" option. Same here regarding line/paragraph breaks.

I don't know how to do line or paragraph breaks here. I don't know a thing about HTML. But as for spelling and grammar and sentence structure, I just check before I hit send.

Although I don't have an opinion on the preview posts thing, I do think the statistics of the most log-ins per day and the longest log-ins would be pretty interesting. *smile*

yeah a preview for HTML would be nice

Post 10 by Jage (Zone BBS, a decade of madness) on Monday, 01-May-2006 23:56:04

We didn't do preview at first, but now that we allow some HTML, it makes more sense. We don't have stats for the longest time logged in. We could do logins per day by dividing total by days on the site. Hmmmm.

In my post above (post #7, I think) it had some html in it: namely an italicized word. When I reviewed it, it showed with the less and greater thans showing. Now it shows correctly. How are we going to know which way it will come out?

Also something i always was wondering is the most people we ever had logged on on the zone. I think one day i saw 60 if i remember right.

Sounds like a good idea. I screwed up once or twice putting in HTML on some board posts. There's really no way you can tell if the HTML coding is correct until you actually pressed the submit button, yes so a preview button would be great to have. That way if your not satisfied with the way the HTML coding turned out or if your a bad speller you could go back and change it up before pressing the submit button. I wonder if they can throw in a spell check button in there to. I know for a fact everyone could use that including myself of course. I know I'm not the best speller in the world. LMFAO!!

I don't think spell checker is nessesary even if i spell words wrong like nessesary for example. If i wasn't lasy i could write my message in word, check it and copy and paste it here. So there is a solution to that.

Yup, I use preview to see how html works in the entry. Not all HTML is accepted on here so if it's not, it shows the code. If it does then you'll see what you did.

well some people dont have word so there.

Post 17 by Jage (Zone BBS, a decade of madness) on Saturday, 06-May-2006 14:08:45

There's some free online spell checkers as well. It's possible, but may be a bit of work to implement, not to mention processor intensive. I'm honestly not too sure.

jen, that's harsh

Post 19 by WillieTheWoof (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Monday, 29-May-2006 19:20:16

Thanks for letting Mac's in on the Ventrillo chat. Got it up and running and it works quite well. I am using a poerbook g4 with tiger(os10.4.6) and voiceover the screen reader built in to the Mac. Great job...

urm...why the hell did you put that there? that may have been the stupidest place for that last comment!

Post 21 by Rune Knight (Ancient Demon - Darkness will always conquer Light!) on Tuesday, 30-May-2006 0:53:48

Urm... I don't understand why post 19 is even on here. It has nothing to do with this damn topic for fucks sake.

Post 22 by yankee g wolverine (Account disabled) on Tuesday, 30-May-2006 1:03:32

exactly chris! and now we're killing this topic even more!

Post 23 by blbobby (Ooo you're gona like this!) on Tuesday, 30-May-2006 1:30:46

Before we kill it for good, we now have a proof checkbox on messages, but the couple of times I tried to use it it erased about half of some of my messages. I loved it, but didn't trust it, (see the zone is like life), so, is it fixed, has it been left out here in a broken form, or what?

As far as a spell checker goes, good idea, but too much work, too processor intinsive, and most people wouldn't use it for a mere message anyway.

Thanks,
Bob
